How Windows 10 Will Handle Clean Installs

    Either Windows 7 or 8 don't forget you will need either 7 SP1 or the 8.1 upgrade before the free upgrade to W10 However if you have disks for either of the W7 service pack 1 or Windows 8.1 then no problem.

    As far as backups go I have already a full working clone on a spare SSD for the desktop, and a bit nearer to the end of July I will make an image for the laptop. It has to be an image due to the stupid UEFI system preventing the use of a different drive in it.

    I have been following this thread and all of a sudden the link in the email is broken and won't take me to take me where I am suppose to go. Is that problem on my end or the site.

    Right Nev I do have 8.1 disks which I could install without a COA and then just upgrade to the upgrade for 10.

    From what I've read.....
    Using an image from the old OS, won't work.
    The license key is transferred over to the Win10.
    So you may well find that the image will give an unlicensed copy.

    The reason for using the Rollback option.... is that the license key is transferred back when you rollback to an earlier OS.

    You didn't think M$ would make it easy to revert back, did you? :)
