I went ahead and reinstalled Vista and computer works great. No viruses now but here's my glitch... Every once in awhile (and becoming frequent) I get an error message that says Windows stopped working and then I get a message saying Explorer is shutting down. I have to keep restarting my browser. What's the deal?

Are we talking about "Internet explorer" or "Windows explorer?"

When this happens what do you see on your computer? Do all of your icons remain on the desktop?

    Hi Friend,
    Did you fit new hardware?
If you did you almost certainly need to "repair" the Windows installation to match that new hardware combination.

    Thanks,
    James
