I have a vinyl cutter that I use with my laptop with Win 10, I'm trying to set my desktop windows 10 (update from windows 7) up to run the same machine but can't figure out how I got it set up on my laptop..

I use Corel Draw as the design software, it needs to recognize my cutter as a printer.. my Cutter is in device manager as a usb serial port (says it's working correctly) some how in my laptop it shows under printers as a printer and under devices as serial device.. on my desktop it shows up under devices as a serial device.

I have tried adding a printer manually with the drivers I have for the cutter, shows on the correct port as the serial device but won't work.. and Corel draw won't recognize the serial device as a cutter or printer..

    Any suggestions ?

Have you tried going to the vinyl cutters manufacturers web site and check to see if there are drivers? Also there may be some set up instructions there. If you could send the make and model of the vinyl cutter I could take a look to see also . It has been a while since I set up one of these for a friend and I just can't remember (sorry being old sometimes is a disadvantage).
O and welcome to the forums Bunky67.

The cutter is aUS cutter 871 mk1 but I believe in the past I have used the mk2 drivers.
In the instructions it says the cutter should come up under other devices and then I should be able to update driver's and it should show up a printer. It comes up as a com 4 serial port under ports.

I have tried installing the drivers via add a printer manually and the seem to load and hook up to the port with the settings correct but when I go I to Corel draw and hit print nothing.. it does show under the print que it's printing but doesn't cut
