    REASONS...
I have been in the computer industry for 22 years.
    1) When XP PRO came out I loved the way it worked "Classic/Start" I
    could find
change and store files where I wanted to.
    2) VISTA Ult and Pro I nerver did use the interface that MS started in
    when you
installed it, I reverted to the "Classicc" option and did so for all
    115 users and
they all asked how to revert so they could change their system
    purchased for
    home.
    3) NOW along comes WIN7 where MS has againg drastically altered the
UI/Start/and file systems. The first thing I looked for was the
    option to use the
"Classic" interface SHOCK HORROR MS had removed it completely, NO
    option
    just NOT there.

I have spent the last 3 weeks around 4 hours a day attempting to learn
"MS's WAY" yet at the end of the day I come back to my Vista system and
complete jobs/business that I did not complete on WIN7.

I have attempted to bite the bullet and use WIN7 but sorry the
frustration level is higher than my ability to concertrate.
In a effort to ensure that it was NOT me I have provided 2 systems (1 x
DT and 1 x N/B) with WIN7 and have asked my users to use these systems
    for 1 week.
I assure you that after 2 days I have been told give me back my orginal
system or I will resign, this was not a selected few it was new
    employees, older secretarys and users.

I cannot allow my business to be hijacked and bankrupted by MicroSoft.
I can only imagine the disruption to a corporate or large business.

I hope this gives you an insite.

    Regards Carl

This has given me great INSIGHT. You have trouble with new technology,
that's fine. You want to troll Vista sites to complain, that's fine
too. But have no doubt there are many fine people here with years of
experience with UNIX, Linux, Mac, and all varieties of Microsoft
Windows. If you are looking for converts to join your hatred of Vista
and Windows 7, you have come to the wrong place. Where you see failure,
we see opportunity. Where you enjoy a stasis, we enjoy change. While
you yearn for Apple II, we see the excitement of multi-core processors -
with software that can take full advantage of computational power,
incredibly powerful graphics, and cutting edge (not bleeding edge)
    technology.

So good luck to you, and all your future "insites" with Microsoft.
Just as long as you understand we don't really value your negative
    opinions.

    You asked for my response.

I am NOT trolling the Vista sites to rubbish MS or VISTA.

If you read my resopnse and did NOT jump to conclusions you would have
relaised that Im happy with VISTA and XP.

What I was stating is that WIN7 offers me no advantage to encourage me
to UPGRADE (I never upgrade I always do a clean install from a full
    diskset).
If the "CLASSIC / START" were available I would go to WIN7.

SO Please DONT state incorrectly that I'm a Microsoft basher.

Thanks Carl, that is a very interesting perspective. It is always
interesting to hear the view of a real customer. I was in large systems
software development since 1961 and know that in these circles one can
easily get disconnected from the real customers. The logics applied in
the development houses (especially when it is the biggest company in the
industry), can very easily land on cloud 9.
On the other hand, you sometimes have to decide to leave legacy behind
    - else the system will mushroom forever. And then you get complains too.
It looks like in this case MS picked the wrong facility.
However, I have also learned over the years that people do not like
change all together - even at the system professional level (or for that
matter in any life situation). Maybe that is why progress is coming in
    such small doses.

I have been reading and posting in a thread in the media center NG,
    starting with:

    Message-ID: <3DFD500B-6022-448F-BA64-8C21EFD65145@microsoft.com>

The problem there is that someone apparently has been using some *very* old
equipment, and now is having a very difficult time saving some work that he
doesn't want to lose, because his equipment is totally obsolete. The poster
is not the person in question, but is hoping to help him, in spite of what
looks like significant odds against success.

It's not, generically, a new or unknown problem, of course. Like just try
to copy songs off of your 8-track tapes...

Anyway, in spite of the pain, in the long term it might still be safest for
Sentar to move to Vista or 7. It's his decision, and I won't presume to
argue with him about it, but I still wish to express my opinion.
