The experience rating will remain the same. The Aero functions will no longer work. For example, if you sun your mouse over an open item in the taskbar it will no longer show an image of the window. Of course we never really determined if you were using Aero to begin with.

The point is that with a 2.0 experience index Aero was probably not working for you anyway but if it was set to Aero it may be that the slowdown occurs because it is trying to load Aero and failing. This is really just an attempt to rule out the problem with fingers crossed that it may actually be the cause.

But here's another thing i was wondering about.
When i first start my computer, the eMachines logo comes up with the option to pull up bios and whatnot, and then the next screen says Realteck agent, press shift F10 for settings.
When i do that, i can change some settings there. I've tried all the "boot first" options, but none of those helped. I didnt touch anything else there though.
maybe you can tell me more about what those settings do?

It's a matter of trying to diagnose what the culprit is.

How long since you run Disc Cleanup?

Take note of the Temp Files.

Turn Norton off for a couple of minutes and see if CHF loads quicker.

Let us now how many temp files you had to delete.

Have you got Norton configured to scan on startup. This could also slow startup times.

Check Disc cleanup again and see if all is deleted.

Reboot and take notice of the time.

Are you sure you had 10 GIGS ?

That would take some hours to remove.

So many things can cause this.

I would run CHKDSK in case you have some bad segments on the HDD.

I think the next thing is to rule out malware as a contributing factor.

This malware prep seems complicated but really is not.

Let our malware Specialist take a look at the logs.

    Just follow each step carefully.

This is the only way we are going to get to the bottom of this,I feel.
