Vista Service PAck 2 updates and beyond

Just wondering how long should Vista Post SP2 updates should take?

I have been running this system for just over 24 hours and it has not
restarted.

Windows Vista, but only for Service Pack 2 (SP2).

This support for Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2) is valid until November

Are you using dialup over phone line?

It will take a long time to download if you are.

You can check progress by moving the cursor over the Windows Update icon in
the system tray or start Windows Update from Start menu.

Here is something I have seen a few times.

I start to download/install updates on Vista or Windows 7. It should take
5-10 minutes through experience. I come back about 30-45 minutes later and
see that the download has stalled at about 22% (or some other number).

Figuring that the process has stalled I cancel out, to try again later. Upon
doing so, I find a prompt box "BENEATH" the update window that was asking
for permission to continue (Internet Explorer 8 did this when downloaded in
conjunction with other updates). Of course, having already cancelled the
process I.E. also could not install.

Now when this happens I know what to look for!
