    Hi
I posted yesterday, but put a wrong title up. so here goes again.
Vista Home Premium, will not go to sleep, as set in controls, neither
will the screen saver kick in after the allotted 10 minuits I have set
it at, I see other have this problem, but see no solutions as yet.
I have not added any hardware, but do have a problem in that none of
the Burning software (ashampoo, roxio,) will recognise my CD/DVD
players /burners, Windows Burner does, but this only burns video etc,
not data, (so I can not back up to disk. any help would be welcome,
    MCC124 thanks

Burning video discs (DVD, VCD etc.) isn't possible through Windows Explorer,
only with Movie Maker or DVD Maker so how are you trying to burn these data
discs? Third party burning programs aren't necessarily compatible with each
other as some of them install utilities that run continuously in the
background and may conflict so it's best to only install one at a time. From
your symptoms it does seem as if your computer has some app blocking the
sleep and screen saver functions, possibly also tying up access to the
burner. Some sort of media player would be an obvious candidate but it could
    be something else.
