    Hi

Sorry to ask such a dumb question...

A while back, after a Windows 10 update, two of my USB ports stopped working.
Tonight I tried to fix that issue by uninstalling and reinstalling the USB drivers.

I went through the process and was told when reinstalling that the USB drivers that were installed were already the most recent and I was good to go. I took that to mean the USB drivers were not uninstalled and the process had not worked. I restarted my PC on a unrelated matter and now neither my mouse nor keyboard works. I made a backup on my desktop after uninstalling, but now I can't get to it and I feel like the worlds biggest ****head.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

I would clear the jumpers on the motherboard, and take the CMOS battery out for 5 mins, and put back.
Reboot and see what happens. Nothing to lose.

I've come across this issue a few times in about the last 6 months. The issue only occurs on systems that originally came with Window's 7.

If this is indeed the problem, the only solution I found was to do a clean install of W10.

Ah never mind, for some reason, I thought it came with W7.

What is the brand of the computer?

Aside from the brand of the computer, does it have PS2 ports? If so, you could use a ps2 mouse and keyboard. Or, install a PCI to USB card.

If you check out that link, Seth, he says he has fixed the problem.
From what I have read these issues pertain to upgrades, as you said.
Clean installs of Windows 10 don't have any issues with this update.
Would think M$ would patch this known issue.
