Can anyone please tell me what is an "hprb update (unidentified publisher)
which I get from time to time and cancel it, since I do not know who is it
    from?

  3. You obviously have either a hewlett packard computer or you have a hewlett
    packard printer/scanner don`t you.
This is the update utility that it uses to look for new updated software.

Do you have a HP Printer or other product from HP, because I would imagine
    it's that checking for updates.

    Just guessing,

    do you have any kind
    of Hewlett-Packard (HP) peripheries ?

I noticed similar pop ups at my friend,
    having HP ink jet printer.
