What is best way to get rid of undesired software on new ASUS laptop, namely Skype, Drop Box, Web Storage, Anti-Virus, anything I must subscribe to or purchase, etc?
I don't wish for a program to remove what it considers bloatware, malware, etc without my having a choice in the matter.
Maybe try to locate programs in All Programs or Add/Remove Programs if W-10 has one and uninstall them one by one? And if so will this get rid of the pop-up ads for them also? Thanks.
Just getting feet wet with Windows 10. Need to learn how to disable or change tiles to file/folder lists next and make it look more familiar. Copied desired shortcut icons to desktop. Getting there.

Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features. Uninstall the ones you don't want.

Some apps allow you to uninstall them in the normal way. Just right-click an app in the All Apps list in the Start menu and select “Uninstall”. Like Office, Get Skype, Get Started, Microsoft Solitaire Collection, Money, News all can be removed by this way.

However, Microsoft’s other included Windows 10 apps can’t be removed in this way, you need uninstall this built-in apps with a PowerShell cmdlet.

I did try decrapify my PC or something like that and I could have used it incorrectly, but I had the feeling it was removing things I wanted. Also maybe shouldnt have used it on a working PC but only a brand new one where I havent put my own things on. I think I know what I dont want but would like it to ask first. Mybe it did and Iwasnt watching. Or maybe the one suggested here was not the one I used.

BG can you simply list everything in Control Panel, Programs and Features, I know that is a big job, but then we can tell you what to remove.

You can do it that way too BG just type back what you are not sure of in here and we can answer you.
Truthfully I really don't like using third party programs to remove so called "bloatware". I would rather pick and choose myself
and then use Revo or Wise Uninstaller. If you choose Wise be very careful to avoid "Bloatware" they try to load into you.
The problem with Revo, which is ma much better program is 64 bit doesn't show all the programs in the free version.

Here's a freeware program I really like when I uninstall a program. This will find all the files that REVO leaves behind. I also use regedit , but that's another story. I guarantee you will like this software. If it's on your PC, this program will find it! It will even find files on a external drive if you search with the external plugged in!No bloatware here. This is the authors site!

    Try the new CCleaner

"You must be knowing about the popular CCleaner program which is a free software to clean temporary files and improve system performance in Windows, Mac and Android operating systems. Yesterday we told you about the release of a new version 5.11 of CCleaner which comes with a special and very useful feature. Now CCleaner allows you to uninstall built-in apps inWindows 10as well as Windows 8 and Windows 8.1."

Rich: Been away awhile. Now back. I downloaded the PCDecrapifier and I didnt start or open it or do anymore, and I wondered if you would give a brief description on how to safely use it. I recall downloading something called DecrapifyYourPC or something similar and when I started it, it seemed to remove things automatically without asking and I was missing things. So I put them back and uninstalled. I'm sure it wasnt this one but I am more cautious now. Would like to use it on new PC to get rid or the ads and offers that keep popping up that I do not want. I think I opened the other one and it just started removing things. But That was not on a new PC but on the one I downloaded it to.

Sorry BG I think I said many recommend it so I passed it on but I have never used it. I would doubt it would pull anything out automatically but again I don't know.

Hi BGBG! I have used the program. It allows you to choose what to get rid of! You need to use this tool with caution.
IMHO I would not use this tool unless you are very experienced PC user.

Hi BGBG! It's nice to have a PC that is free of bloatware; but all those Toshiba Apps that you see in my screen shot don't bother me one bit and I even use some of them once in awhile. You won't gain that much free space. All those apps in W10 don't bother me either and I use some of them also. It would be my advise to do like @Rich-M advised and let a tech advise you about the bloatware you want to remove
Those are my thoughts friend. Be careful what you uninstall with that program.

Maybe I will feel better doing what Tony and some websites have said and do it manually. I have read that different things need different methods to get rid of them. Want to learn how to make restore points, make rescue discs, and a Macrium hard drive image for starters. Some things that come to mind are drop box, McAfee, MS Office, Skype, and there are a few others. Popups slide out wanting me to sign up, register, buy, order, etc. Annoying. If I could stop those having the unused programs and offers wouldnt bother me. Cant even go to websites anymore without a huge box blocking the window and have to wait several minutes or more for some ad screen to load before can even close it.
The one I had may have worked automatically or I just wasnt watching. Probably the latter. I know I didnt choose anything or read a tutorial, but noticed it was starting to remove something I wanted and I stopped it.
