I found this software installed on my Vista home premium X86 machine:

    "dassault systemes software prerequisites"

Does anyone know which application(s) use it and what it's does? Is it used
by Vista or IE or WMP?

    Dassault ? French aircraft manufacturer?

    Boeing ? US aircraft manufacturer?

Something that came with something else related to work?

Not from the looks of it. Software Informer is a product that is
supposed to keep your software updated.

Maybe it's something that came pre-installed on your computer. It
most certainly isn't a critical component.

You must know Dassault, if you worked for Boeing. They are one of the
largest French aviation companies. My dad used to fly their Mystere IV
fighter-bomber in the 60's. They make the Rafale now.

They also make a CAD program for designing aircraft surfaces, called CATIA,
which Frank Gehry's (the architect) practice uses to make the curved
    surfaces on his buildings.
