Thumbsplus & UAC

  1. Obviously I should have written down how I accomplished this before.

I upgraded Vista to SP2 the other day. It promptly chose to not recognize TP
and ask for a password every time.
I've since removed SP2 for other reasons, but the damage has been done.

I spent hours, possibly days trying to find a setup where I could have TP on
the desktop and quick launch. and NEVER ask for a password.

Now with SP2 gone, it still asks for the password. I don't know how I had it
setup b4 but I'd like to get it back to not asking for a password.

here's the setup, I have 2 admin accounts, and 2 standard accounts. I use the
Cintiq standard account. The other 2 are just leftovers that I haven't deleted
    yet.

I created the Cintiq account because all the others except the admin account
would lose the Cintiq settings every time I used the Cintiq. That fix was to
add the path to the Cintiq stuff in the environment variables. Something the
Cintiq people had no idea about doing with a vista machine and UAC.

I haven't added TP's path to my environment [E:\programs\thumbs\] and
    C:\users\me\roaming\thumbs]
I think the roaming was created with a reinstall of TP. There was nothing but
an _except.log in roaming. But since it existed, I copied all of the E:\ stuff
to the roaming, and changed the properties on the desktop link to find it at
    the roaming path.
That did nothing, other than to remove the shield on the desktop TP icon. UAC
still didn't recognize it. TP is the ONLY desktop icon that has a security
    shield on the icon.

How do I get UAC to re-recognize TP ?
Hope someone knows how to get it back without disabling UAC.
