System focus

New applications I launch don't always have the system focus on startup. For
some, I don't mind them NOT having the focus immediately on startup (and
sitting on the taskbar if I am already working with another application),
but for others I do. Where and what settings/values should I tweak?

Vista Home Basic here. Thanks in advance. //LJ

  2. Whether or not a program will gain focus will depend on whether it requests
it or not. I don't know of any global setting that will "force" focus upon
    an opened program.

Another MS Windows deficiency... and control we had back in x-windows
    long ago.

LOL...you don't use linux much if you think focus is stable.

You could check the value your have for 'ForegroundLockTimeout' at

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

    Mentioned, for example, here

TIP - Stop Applications in Windows Stealing Focus

The default value is 0, I think.
