You can save the program any where you please! I'm done. This is ridiculous.

For goodness sake you are showing the original download Gary not the installation position.

Sense this seems to have a half life and won't go away, here's a link from Marcin at MBAM.
You can decide if this program is some thing you want and trust. I have asked that all links be removed! This explains what the program does. It seems the suggestion to add more programs has been locked. I don't know what that's all about! This is my last comment on this subject.
I'm no longer recommending this software here on CHF!

Yep I use that for all the real hard to find left overs from installs...I like Win Patrol because it shows you any breach for startup as well as some registry entries and even home page switch as well. A dog bark and a popup gives you the opportunity to stop the change!

Great program Thanks John! I would recommend AutoRuns over malwarebytes startuplite.
I think I have that program in my arsenal. Maybe we can let this lie now!
I will give the other program a look also!

Yup I have AutoRuns @jcgriff2 Are these all start ups?? I clicked on logon! I guess the reason I haven't used this software, is because it's over this old country boys head. Do I need to uncheck some of these and are they on start-up?
    Thanks!

Hi John! I'm thinking that startuplite is also a stand-alone executable. That will get me in trouble.
Thanks John! I'm not supposed to know those things. Does that mean that you don't have to install it to get it to work LMAO!

Yes that would explain why I don't see it anywhere. Problem is it said it was installing but again a beta can do such things, a finished program should not because a beta by its very definition is unfinished.

Here's some good advise about up dating drivers! Quoted from How To Geek
    http://lifehacker.com/5912682/do-i-really-need-to-update-my-drivers
If you either built your own PC or loaded a fresh version of Windows, you’re currently using the Microsoft-approved drivers included in Windows, which aren’t always going to be the fastest choice, especially if you have a real video card. This is a scenario in which you’ll want to update these drivers:

    • Video Card: The difference in speed between the generic Windows drivers for your video card and the official NVidia or ATI/AMDdrivers will surprise you. Even if you aren’t a gamer, make sure you have the real drivers.
    • Motherboard/Chipset: you’ll want to make sure to head to the manufacturer’s site and grab their chipset drivers. If you bought a PC, head to their site, if you built one, go to the motherboard manufacturer’s site. Every installer is different, but in general, you can just run the downloaded driver.
    • Sound Card:the native Windows drivers won’t include all the extra sound features like virtual surround, etc. If you bought a PC, head to their site, if you built one, either go to the motherboard manufacturer’s site for onboard sound, or the sound card manufacturer’s web site otherwise.
    • Network Card: most likely you’re using some type of onboard card that’s part of the motherboard, and you already grabbed the drivers from there.

If you’re a gamer, you’ll probably want to make sure to keep your video card drivers updated regularly.

Why would a stand-alone executable get you into trouble? It's the same as an installed program except that there's nothing to install. You just run the EXE file. :dumbfounded:

There is generally no need to update drivers unless you're suffering from BSODs or if you want the latest added functionality that a new 3rd party driver offers.

The vast majority of drivers in ones system are written by Microsoft.

However, Windows Update may offer you updated 3rd party drivers like NVIDIA video, Realtek audio; Realtek networking, Intel networking, etc... but they are not written by Microsoft nor are they updated by Microsoft -- they are written/updated by the 3rd party company.

    Good luck to you, Gary.

Thanks John! I think all your points are good ones and they concur with the link I posted. A stand alone exe would not get me in trouble friend. My comment about getting me in trouble was all the posts that were made about malwarebytes startuplite in the previous posts made by others. That's the trouble I was referring to. We will be honored by your BSOD expertise which I'm sure there is a OP post just around the corner.
Did you look at my screen shot about start ups in my post 107. Do you have advise about any of them that needs to be unchecked.
Thanks old friend. Good luck to you John. This thread is now 6 pages long and 112 posts.

We used to update drivers the minute a new one came out but today the thinking is more or less update them when you have a problem that you believe or know a driver states it will fix. I have seen too many systems hung with new video or audio drivers and enough is enough. Now if you are on Windows 10 and have an Nvidia video card the odds are you have issues so you should seek the latest for Windows 10. I have been noticing some oddball freezes now and then and while I could not actually prove it I felt the Nvidia video driver was the issue so I updated it and was proven right. For some reason Windows 10 has issues with many video cards. Parts of the full Nvidia update would not install and I found if I used "custom" and went one by one then restart after each one they all installed except for the 3-d driver and the system is running a lot better.

BTW here was a really peculiar issue in my Win 10 upgrade. I have been noticing for a while that when I first boot up and I open Microsoft Outlook and then close it down it would not reopen without a restart. Looking "under the hood" I realized its because some of the program was hung up and did not shut down so I could manually close it in Task Manager.Ironically that problem went away after I upgraded the Nvidia Video card driver on the Gigabyte 750GTX-ti card. Go explain that one!

Hi bassfisher! You probably just forgot about the bugs that were in Vista, W7, W8,W8.1. It takes a while to get the bugs out of a new OS. It's hard to make changes, but sooner or later you will have to. I have found very minor problems with W10.

Capture48.JPG Here's some thing new bassfisher. I'm running W10 Home addition. This is a first for me and RELMON also picked this up as a warning. This is pretty cool IMHO!

I don't remember bugs in Windows 7. Windows 8 on the other hand was a bug.
