You still have the option to turn Windows 10 driver updates off.

Aha good news Dougie....I will look when I get to that pc later but I am pretty sure it is Pro version so I will look for that. Those driver updates can be seriously screwed up.

    .

    Hi Rich.
I went looking when Microsoft removed my good Graphics Driver and replaced it with a generic driver.
I thought to myself this is not on. In installation settings Rich.

There is a right and wrong! That option is not present in W10 Home addition. I know W10. You have been running it a few days Rich!

Thank you! I'll leave mine on default and let windows decide. I believe you went a different way to accomplish what you wanted to do.
Not in W10 setting. I learned some thing new and that's why I'm on CHF. Thank you for your helpful reply Dougie!
You went in Devise manager. Why didn't you post all this in the beginning. We could have avoided all this.
I guess that's not your style. I agree with Rich 100% and I do know a few things Dougie!;);):(
I'm now wondering if W10 Home will over ride that?

Here's MHO! I can't prove this, but I'm betting MS W10 will over ride that setting in devise manager.
Anyone want to bet on that?:eek-67:

Hey great find Dougie. I would never have found that because it was no where around Windows Update!
Gary your computer, your decision but I have to tell you Video, Audio and Ethernet Updates have been "the kiss of death" from Windows Update and in many cases leaving the computer un-bootable, so you know in my experience.

I agree 100%. Great find Dougie. Now will this option in device manager be over ridden by the MS up date feature in the home addition?
If I were betting the farm, I would say MS is way ahead on that and it will be over ridden; but
I don't know of any way to prove my theory.

Well I guess you know MS better then the creators. I'll take the bet, but I don't know how to prove if I win because I'm staying with defaults!:D

If MS over rides devise manager and installs drivers, then you will know. It has nothing to do with setting. This is a setting that's always been in devise manager. I really hope it's a cure. I knew it was there, but I had forgotten about it until Dougie posted here on the thread that I started a long time ago. How many times does MS up date drivers?? I do not have a clue, so only time will tell.
I'm thinking this is a dead horse and it's not going any place. If someone finds a link that confers this option will work, please post it, because this will be a great find! Maybe the Reliability Monitor would tell you if MS installed drivers. I don't know!

I think I have proved that I know a few things about W10. Do I know every thing? No I don't! That's why I started this thread and why I joined CHF. I'm here to learn and pass it forward. I do not wish to argue. I think we can discuss these things like grown ups and that's what I intend to do from now on!
