I have been on Amazon for the last few days looking at some laptop with windows 10. WOW! laptops have dropped in price over the years. I see Best Buy has got some good deals on laptops as well.

I hope so. They actually had a really nice aero theme in one of the builds, and it was basically a combination of 8 and 7's IU. It looked very sharp. I have zero idea why they did not include it in the RTM.

I know my approval is not needed, but I approve anyway. The title that I chose for this thread makes it very hard for someone to say
"Please stay on Topic" Not my first or last rodeo friends! I'm hoping it won't be my last. Now I'm seeing content and I'm loving it!

No problem Kenny! You know that is what the B&M stores are going to have to do to compete anymore. I also heard an unverified rumor that Circuit City (yep for real) may be coming back lol. I think in the long term what we will end up with is local stores with vastly reduced pricing *if* you catch the item at the right time, and *if* you would simply do the work of finding a cheaper price online and ask them to match it.

Back to Windows 10. I use it. It could definitely improve, but there isn't anything other than a few hardware glitches that I have noticed and the operating system's UI (that isn't nearly as nice or pretty as W7), and of course the privacy issues -- that I could do with windows 7 that I can't do with windows 10, but for most there is no compelling reason to upgrade to windows 10 since Windows 7 is essentially perfect. W10's hardware glitches seem to be mostly related to GPU drivers, specifically nVidia with HDMI and power saving features (back screens at times and also with coming out of power saving mode with HDMI). AMD GPU's seem to be faring better with W10 with all video input sources.

I'm not having any problems with my W10 upgrade. I have almost forgotten what W7 looked like. LMAO
I have heard about the GPU drivers issues. The privacy issues don't bother me at all.
If you're on the internet, you don't have any privacy. That's a fact. Might as well get use to that!

Well Gary I use W10 all the time and you know you and I are not simple users so we can tame down the OS to our liking. Myself I happen to know the benefits of HDMI gaming/blue ray watching and ycbcr444 vs RGB so I really prefer it because the colors are more vivid and saturated even in games. This also depends on your display as well. Every once in a while I get locked up but usually if I sit and wait 5 minutes the display driver will resume. Error logs tracked it down to the NV driver and I already knew that W10 past a certain releases is having issues with HDMI and power saving or just freezing sometimes but it's actually pretty rare.

Yes sir! I agree with every thing you said. I'm not good with computer language but the GUI leaves a lot to be desired.
Also drivers are a problem. Not a gamer so the colors are not that important to me. I wouldn't like getting locked up. Wonder why NV doesn't fix their driver problems. This is just my thoughts and I'm probably way off base, but some of these companies depend on MS to up date drivers and maybe MS is saying it's time for you manufactures to update your own products. I have AMD. Not having any problems that I'm aware of!! Surely MS will get these things fixed. Whats NV doing about new PC's coming out with W10?

"Wonder why NV doesn't fix their driver problems.?" Did it ever occur to you that Windows 10 is so bad they can't fix the problems.
I mean its been over 6 months now of people with Nv drivers having to revert to older versions of Windows. Isn't that incentive enough for someone to fix the issues?

I don't have a answer for you. Why doesn't NV fix this problem. Users were warned about NV. I haven't seen any problems with AMD drivers. Someone damn sure needs to fix this problem. Maybe I'm wrong about all this, but where is NV in all this??
Are they leaving this problem up to MS. Other manufactures are fixing their drivers!

Gary you actually linked all Intel drivers rather than just Graphics Drivers there
and as much as I never ever recommend updating software, the Intel software updater is theirs and has saved me a number of times when the pc maker has not updated their own drivers so I edited that one line.

    Hey Kenny,
Best in show these days are MSI laptops but way out of price range of most people. For others I usually recommend Lenvo and Asus
equally. I never recommend Dell or HP but their business divisions are well made i.e Dell Latitude and HP Elitebook.
The rest of those lines I would pass...and Acer well best advice there is pass everything.

"Unlike on previous versions of Windows, there’s no way to select individual updates you want to download. All updates — from security updates and Windows Defender definition updates to optional updates and driver updates — will be installed automatically."

Right there is one of the biggest reasons I know of to use an earlier version of Windows. I can't wait to see all the fouled up video and audio driver updates that causes.

I don't believe they would actually say this but screw home users you get no choice but Pro users, you can postpone the feature updates for up to two months when they have been tested and fixed.

"Home users can’t delay upgrades at all, but Professional editions of Windows 10 get a “Defer upgrades” option in the Advanced options interface. If you enable this, you’ll still receive security updates automatically. Windows 10 will put off downloading feature updates for several months until they’ve had plenty of time to be tested on home PCs.

This is designed to make business PCs a bit more stable and allow system administrators to test new feature updates before they reach their users. If you upgrade to Windows 10 Professional, you could enable this option yourself. But, either way, you’ll get those feature updates — it will just happen a few months later"
