Even if nothing else everyone should make sure their System Restore is recording restore points because I have seen so many pcs since Windows 8 that
do not have System Restore turned on and that really is so stupid but is happening out there.
Macrium Reflect is the best program ever and I wish more people knew about it and used it.

Hi Rich! Great point. I haven't talked much about System Restore to a earlier time. Actually it should be the first thing you should try if you're experiencing a problem you can't seem to solve. It really is stupid not to make sure your OS is recording restore points. You should also know how to create a manual restore point. This is so simple and there is no excuse not to create one manually after you have made major changes to your PC!
    Thanks boss! great tip!

Hi Rich! I wish more people would learn how to use Macrium also. It looks daunting, but it is very easy to use and some day you will be glad you took the time to learn . If you're logged on to CHF, then you're not just a person that turns on your PC and you're trying to learn how to do more than just turn your PC on; so learn to create a back up image. You will be surprised just how easy it is.
Here is a PSR Zip I made. Is this not simple? At least down load the free version and try to create a image.

Yeah I think this has to be one of the things we look at with every computer we service.

Hey @Frogboy ! I have asked this question here on CHF, but haven't really got what I think is a good answer.
Go on Google and type holdum333 or just open this link! What do you think??
15 pages of my posts show up. Don't you think that's a little strange. When I asked the staff on Windowssecret about this, they deleted my thread and gave me a 30 day ban for PMing a staff member. Is that not crazy. You know me well my friend. I'm always in trouble. LOL. I doubt if you will get 15 pages of posts by Googling anyone else user name. I never have!

Windows 10 is an awesome OS.

It takes the game of hide and seek (with your files) to a whole new level.

Always remember "what you see is not necessarily where you think it is in Windows" (virtualization)

Hi John, welcome to CHF, so kewl to see you here and you do know Microsoft for sure.
Interesting I assume facetious comment. My problem with Windows 10 is it was supposed to
fix the issues in Windows 8 and 8.1 and I cannot see where it did that. So it is a big cumbersome
OS that doesn't really do anything 7 doesn't and doesn't do any of those things either quicker or better
than Windows 7 that I can see! I guess for me the real problem is I have never seen a version of Windows I think is better than Windows t.

RICH; You seem to be back here at least for now judging by all the recent postings since I looked last. Hope you ARE back for awhile and I see I have some reading to do. Ready to get into Win10 now. Been away for a week or two due to a people virus, not a PC virus, but now ready to go again.

I have been looking at laptops for my work and have a lot of applications that only runs on Windows. I am going with Windows 10 for one, the start menu is back. The Maps app, menu on the site you post it looks neat!!

Well the start menu is not really back Kenny it's a miniature "Metro" screen from Windows 8 and we are still loading in Classic Shell to give it a decent start menu.
They lied to us, so what else is new.

Hi BGBG! I guess it's a matter of how you want the W10 start menu to look like. It looks fine to me.
    In fact I like it!;);)
If you don't like the old w8.1 tiles, delete them !!

The Windows 10 Start Menu is hardly what Microsoft promised. They just shrunk the "Metro" screen by 2/3 is all.
The problems with it are no different than Windows 8 in that if the average user loses an icon or tile, they don't know how to open the program and sometimes, neither do I.
For me Windows 10 is the greatest add that Classic Shell or Stardock could ever ask for.

I'm sure everyone has heard this saying before, but I'm going to post it any way in my own words.
Even God can't make everyone happy and here's just one example.
The farmers want it to rain for their crops. The Ball players want the sun to shine on their ball game.
God has to find a happy medium and try to please both.
My way of thinking is MS is trying to do that with W10. W10 will get better and CHF will get better and bigger.

What they actually did was not only shrink the tiles, but made the default opening OS gateway UI a much more normal menu as compared to the user experience when initially booting into Windows 8/8.1. The issue is that they didn't go far enough. There are 2-3 things that W10 needs.

    1. A "Windows 7 mode" where the UI is nearly exactly the same as Windows 7, including the "apps" changed beck to "programs".

    2. Windows Aero brought back, and even if only as a desktop theme, it would be enough.

    3. Make "Apps" in the menu optional. Do not even include them on the menu itself unless you give it permissions to do so. In other words just a regular programs menu alone like it was with 7. Nothing else unless specified on setup.
