I do what Dougie does but I make sure my motherboard is an extremely good one, handling sleep or hibernation in every case 100% correctly. I do not accept anything but 100% - or as close as I can get to it. Since I am a gamer, of course I shut down each night. Excellent hardware is the key to being able to utilize sleep or hibernate correctly. Problem is very few know what excellent hardware truly is and it's not always the obvious choice.

sorry but I am a little bit puzzled by the fact that everybody keeps repeating by turning off the PC and turning her back on a clears the memory that's back in the old days up to Windows 7 since Windows 8 and 8.1 and 10 turning it off and turning her back on there is no need because it's the cash its cleaning on its hown

Windows 8 and later operating systems come with a new Automatic maintenance service which regularly deletes unnecessary files and performs system optimization tasks. This service might also delete thumbnail cache files. i did not thing i neeted to prove my self lol wich a similar program that dose that is ccleaner as you can see when its active the green bar comes at the botton of the task bar cleaning cache the windows service dose the same at backround and Task Scheduler will do the same hope that helps

Some are not aware of a lot of the technologies & things going on under the covers w/ modern OSs. They are far more capable & smarter, by design, than you might think & that's w/out assistance from End Users or 3rd party tools. They do not waste resources! As I said earlier, the activity in 10 whilst idle is super-low. They are, indeed, their own little built-in janitors & millwrights.

One Scheduled Task I strongly recommend is Extended Disc Clean-up and set to Daily @ 1AM.

Yes, absolutely support the person saying just only use the Cleaner (part) of CCleaner. As a general rule, do not muck about in the Registry AND don't touch any of those damned magic-bullet advertised utilities that profess to speed-up, clean-up, fix, repair your computer or do anything w/ your Registry; leave it be.

    Cheers,
    Drew

OK but here is what Windows 10 says about Automatic Maintenance: Service includes software services, security scanning and system diagnostics.
That says nothing about clearing memory I'm afraid and I am questioning it for a reason really because I have never read anything other than a cold boot resets memory
and that has always been my main reason for shutting down computer at night and when I leave the house.
As for hard drive cleaners, that is a matter of taste. Most computers I work on have hard drives sized between 500 Gb-1 tb where they are 10% full or less. So the reason to be cleaning hard drives is what? I mean I can remember when we had 9 gb hard drives and we had to keep them clean but now I think there are better things to do with our time. The most we can do using such things is screw something up.
