Run As Administrator

Discussion in 'Windows Vista' started by Howard Kaikow, Jun 18, 2009.

  1. I had a file in Windows Explorer thaI could not delete.

At first, I was informed that I did not have access rights to the
    directory.

I tried to use Run as Administrator, I guess that does not apply to
    Windows Explorer.

Short of making my account part of the Administrator group, is there a
way to Run As Administrator, as needed?

I did not find any relevant shortcut that would allow me to Run As
    Administrator.

P.S. In the end, the reason that I could not delete the file had
nothing to do with Run as Administrator, rather there was a hidden Excel
process that had a handle open on the file and directory.

i guess one way to do it would to be to log into the pc as the built in
admin and also ahve you take ownership of the file in the propreties
    menu
