Remove USB stick

I got a laptop with Vista Home Premium installed.
Whenever I put a USB memory stick into the USB port and after my work, right
click to 'Safely Remove Harware' icon on the tray, but the light still
flasing on my USB memory stick.

If I use it in my desktop, the light did not flash when I 'Safely Remove
Hardware; successfully.
Why it only happened in laptop?

I see the same thing - in XP, the LED turns off when I click Safely
Remove, but in Vista it does not. Hard to say why Microsoft changed
the behavior, but it seems like we just have to live with it.
