I'd like to recover a nero serial number from a "windows old" folder. Is
there a way to recover the old registry information from windows old?

    TIA

The serial number may be encrypted, i.e. not in a readable form.
Anyway to have a look in the Windows.old registry you need to load the relevant
    hive into Regedit.
Assuming the serial number is held in the Software hive, open Regedit and in the File
    menu select 'Load hive'.
Browse to Windows(.old)\System32\Config\Software and open it.
(The registry hives don't have a file extension.)
