    This sounds like what happened to me.

    Due to space issues, I deleted my Windows backup folder from a local
    hard drive. When I subsequently attempted to Back up computer (intending
    to designate a new destination), I get:

    THE SPECIFIED SERVICE DOES NOT EXIST AS AN INSTALLED SERVICE.

    munk: based on your experience, perhaps I'll temporarily unmount the
    former backup drive and try again.
