It's to create the illusion of a leaner and faster operating system than
Vista. Of course, once you download all the essential extras it'll be fatter
    + slower than mud.

    You'll also need the 'extras'.

Installing "extras" doesn't necessarily make the OS run slower....

I've used it, but I'm not impressed.

It brings nothing new to the marketing mix (Vista did), but takes away more
features than it adds. Did we not sing the praises of Windows Calendar in
this group for it to warrant a home in Windows 7?

Or if I've missed the exciting new feature coming with Windows 7 then please
enlighten me. I genuinely would like there to be one...

True, but I've never known it to make an os run faster.

It's certainly faster than Vista on the same machine with the same apps
installed. One major feature is that Win 7 doesn't randomly drop wireless
    connections, unlike Vista...

    Live Mail has the calendar.
Not sure if its as "good", not a big PC calendar user.

I don't care if you like it or not.
You stated it was a "pig", I as a user of an eval copy, and an HP oem copy,
    say it's fast.
I base my opinion as an actually user.
You are using Vista, so your opinion would be suspect.

    Nothing is available in ubuntu.
DVD palyback sucks, and isn't legal with additional paid for software.
    Stop fudging lying, you moron.
It's a crude OS, at best.

    I've seen it.

Using an online calendar is ok if you have zero concern for privacy.

You can use it without being signed in to Windows Live.
How are they collecting data without being signed in?

    How do you figure that?
You an expert on international law?

Canonical even says so, dummy ...
Legal Notice Patent and copyright laws operate differently depending on
which country you are in. Please obtain legal advice if you are unsure
whether a particular patent or restriction applies to a media format you
wish to use in your country.

I have a lawyer who is an expert on international law. It's legal here
as is downloading music, DVDs or programs from Torrent if you have no
plans to make money on the downloads. Too civilized for you?

Well presumably the expectation is that at some point you will sign in.
