I don't have the "B" type symbol (wireless) _ I have the dot with 3 waves, if that makes sense.

 

That would be if you had Bluetooth.

This is the wireless. So yes you do have wireless.

 

This would explain why your download took so long.

I am getting a msg now (which I believe is common) - about Power Point en-us\PowerpointMUI.MSI not found.

I decided to reinstall M/S Office, it went well till I got to Outlook - again - and says The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.

This was the original message. I am definitely on line. I just cant get past this message.

 

Who is the service you go through for email.

They usually post step by step instructions with pictures. They do not use exchange for home email address it will be IMAP or POP.

 

My account settings are *****@bendigodomain.com.au (which is the retirement village I live in and I use pop/smtp settings (outward mail is telstrabusiness)
For the hotmail address I use mapi

 

I have read the site, and double checked what I have to do. But first I have to be able to access File,but when I open Outlook, straight away it says The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.

Then it shows Microsoft Exchange

Once the names have been checked and are underlined, click OK.
Click OK and it says "cannot open your default e-mail folders. The file C:\Users\Judy\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook|Judy L.ost is not an Outlook data file (ost).
click on OK and that is it.

I would have typed myy name out as Judy L - whether the .ost is an accident, I don't know, but until I can sort this out, I cannot use Outlook.

The computer was on line by the way.

 

Well good news to hand. I googled the error message and was able to re-set everything by deleting the profile.
Outlook 2010 is now up and running.
What I'd like to know now is how do I disable the "mail" program that comes with W10?

I have three more questions to ask, I guess they are W10 related, is it appropriate to ask here?
1. I can read the font ok on messages, but where it says "file-edit-view-favourites",it is far too small. I did alter the font from size 9 to size 11 but it has not worked on headings.
2. I am using IE as it suggests, but I can't find out which version (once you could click on properties). I keep getting msgs to upgrade to IE 11 - is that safe to use, I vaguely recall problems with it.
3. Because I use IE now, I am stuck with Bing which I absolutely loath. Would it do any harm to get rid of it - if so, how. I would prefer google.

 

1) Take it up further...you can also right click anywhere on the desktop and choose "Display Settings" and there is a bar you can bring across so take it half way and then hit "apply".
2) IE 11 was problematic in the beginning but it is fine now
3) Right click along the top of the top browser bar until you see "menu bar" and "command bar" and click both. Then in the Command Bar open "Manage Addons" and click open "search providers" then at bottom iof screen click on " find more providers" and click on Google and then put a checkmark in box that says "make Google default search engine" then go back into Manage addons and search providers and delete everything in there except "Google".
