Hi Pat.On the information you have just supplied,it would be a good idea to rid your system of any Nasties.

Here is a guide prepared by our Malware Specialist.

Just follow each step carefully and Post the logs.

Not sure of any Step,by all means ask.

Our Malware Specialist will examine and advise you further.

    Hello,

I have followed those directions up to Step 4. The scan from Malwarebytes was clean as a whistle. Since nothing was found, is it necessary to continue with OTL? I have it on my desktop.

Remember, it was Super AntiSpyware that found the problem and it is quarantined:

    .

Still wonder if this is causing problems...keeps opening up....

    .

I had a lot of problems with everything not responding all morning and that is why I have not replied. Finally I unplugged the modem, waited, plugged it in, unplugged the router, waited, plugged it in and since then I have been able to get on here and....hopefully....post this.

    Thanks for all.

Hi Pat. Most important to continue with the steps and post Logs, regardless of what SAS has quaranteened.

SuperAntiSpyware only looks for one type of Malware.

OTL will show your OS in detail.

This is what is needed to be analysed. The OTL scan is very quick.

Follow each step to the letter.

    Try this to fix Indexing.

    1. Open the Control Panel and double click "Indexing Options".
    2. Click Advanced and click Rebuild.
    3. Click OK.

    Hi,

Thanks for the indexing hint. I think all is well there. I had no choice but to take it back to default settings. It took hours to finish, but I guess it is okay. No window showing up anymore.

I have had absolutely NO problems with the computer. Whatever solved it, I don't know, but since I unplugged the modem and router, everything has been fast and no "not responding". I did a House Call by Trend Micro and it found nothing. All the other scans have produced nothing, so I think I will leave it as it and see what happens.

I will keep that OTL on my desktop in case I need it although I read some things which made me hesitant to use it with Vista. I will check with you all if I need to go any further.

Thank you all for your prompt responses and for all the help you gave me. Nice to know there is a place like this!

    Thanks!

Now, one more thing....the computer has been working perfectly...except it did "not respond" a few times yesterday and seems to kind of hesitate once in awhile. I had the idea that it might be the browser and read that certain things cause Firefox to do that. Then I had an alert from Dell, so just thought I would check it out and there are drivers listed that are very important. Am I to assure that it means these need to be updated??? When I try to download one I just get the driver manager or something like that which tells me I don't have anything there to download. Or, if I mess with this will I get into more trouble? Should I leave well enough alone, or how can I be sure that drivers do need to be updated. I put my service tag in at Dell and got that list.
Thanks for any information on this.
    P.

    Hi Pat,

To be honest, I would leave well enough alone at this point. :)

Here's a little reading about Firefox not responding .

"Hesitation" Could be website server or I.S.P. related.

As for the driver concern. We know the old saying; If it ain't broke, don't fix it. ;)
There's nothing wrong with updating your drivers. But if you aren't experiencing
any driver related malfunctions, I wouldn't be too concerned.

    Hi Pat,

This is slightly off topic but I notice that almost all of your attachments are gone now apparently because you removed them from Photobucket. Our threads are such that we hope that others will read them and learn. I appreciate the desire to clean up your PB account but I am going to ask that you either use the attachment upload that we provide below the post box or create a PB album just for stuff you upload here.

People are not aware that when you post a pic from PB you are really just embedding the code that takes you to that link. Once it is gone the code is meaningless and you get the photo removed notice in its place.

    Thanks for your cooperation :D

Thanks, Kojak, I had read those!

Sorry,BeeCeeBee! I was not aware that there was another way to post screen shots. I usually clear things because I thought maybe they took up valuable resources. Will not do that in the future. I just did not like my name and information out there, when most of what I posted ended up not being significant to the problem.

    Thanks for all...
