Eureka! guys. Got my printer back. Late last night. Apologies for taking so long to get back to you. Here's what I did. Followed Seth's guidance again and yes I did find HP items and removed them from the list and performed all the other checks he gave me. However, at the end of all that I still got the same old pop-up 'printer is in error state'. From there I went into HP Print an Scan doctor after I had remove that also and reinstalled it. I unplugged the printer USB cable, turned off the printer and then followed the prompts on the Printer and Scan Doctor. Hooked up my printer again, ran a test page and with baited breadth I selected an item from online and I heard go through all the noises and then kicked out the printed document. Been using it quite a lot today. So, what can I say, Dougie, Tony D., Bill and Seth. Without all of your inputs I would still be a frustrated old guy. Thanks again.

Glad you got it going and thanks for reporting back:)

I think we're all surprised that the Print and Scan Doctor was able to fix the issue, yet a clean install of the printer was not. If that program created a log, I for one would like to see it.

OK, Seth. That is where my knowledge comes to a dead end. Didn't even know that a log may have been created but if you can give me any guidance on how to find that I will be glad to send it on.

I have an HP printer so I just installed that program. Unfortunately, it doesn't produce a log. Oh well, the main thing is you're printing again:)
