Password Strategy Advice

I am considering a new password strategy and would like some advice.
Recognizing that longer, more complex passwords provide better
protection, I use long passwords with numbers and symbols, as well as
upper and lower case letters. It would be more convenient for me to
keep these passwords in a Word Document so that I could simply
copy-and-paste them into the various sites as necessary. This Word
Document would then be protected with a single, easier to remember
    password.
I am wondering if this is a reasonable strategy. Is it too risky to
have these passwords on a Word Document? I am the only one with access
to my PC. It is in my home and not connected to a network. It is,
however, connected to the internet most of the day.

You are better off keeping your passwords in one of the free encrypted
password manager programs instead. I wrote a brief article about this very
subject for my clients in March. Here is a link to the information, which
also has links to free password programs:

I use and really like Roboform, but it is not free. I previously used Alpass
and liked it as well but it doesn't work with IE8 yet (it is free).
