    Hi everyone,

Sorry if I placed this in the wrong forum; I didn't know where the
ideal spot for this thread would be. I'm trying to fix my little
sister's computer, but being a Mac user, I do not know a lot about PC's
(although I've been learning during this process). Here's the info I can
give and what all is going wrong. Thanks for any help in advance and if
you need to know any other information, I'll be happy to provide it.

    -Ian

    .............

    Gateway Computer
    Windows Vista 64-bit with SP1
    Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
    Phoenix TrustedCore Setup Utility

When I turn on the computer, here is what it says:
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
    PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM.
    Operating System not found

When I insert the recovery disk and follow the steps, I type in the
    product key, and it says...
“Windows cannot open the required file D:/Sourcies/Install.wim. The
tile does not exist. Make sure all files required for installation are
available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070002.”

When i go to Repair Your Computer,” no operating system is shown. When
I click on “load drivers,” it shows my Hard Drive as Boot (X:)

When i click next with no HD selected and choose “Startup Repair” ...it
says it can’t be fixed automatically. “View diagnostic and repair
    details,” says...
    Root cause found:
    MBR is corrupt.
    Repair action: Disk metadata repair
Result: Failed. Error code = 0x57

bootrec.exe /FixMbr says “A device attached to the system is not
    functioning”

I also have a copy of the Ultimate Boot CD if that would be of any
    use..

Determine the mfg of the hard drive, then download and run their diagnostic
    utility and report the results.
