I hope I m in the right forum for this. I am not really replying. Although, I think win 10 is going to be great. I am in the market for a laptop for college. I found one on amazon, its a Toshiba Satellite. It has win 10, 12gb memory, 1tb hard drive, an optical drive, i7 processor the i74720hq. I want a fast laptop with a large hard drive, but my son thinks a 750gb hard drive would be fine. I want at least 12gb memory. This laptop is $819 and I don't know if I want to spend that much. Can I get some opinions :whew:
    Thanks
    Tina

    Hi Tina,

Do you have a link? You don't often see laptops with these spec's.
It sounds like a gaming laptop.

I agree with Cindy it is certainly of the higher end of the scale, however I am not too sure about the maker, I once had a Toshiba laptop in the days of Windows XP which nearly caught fire. Fortunately it was still under the warranty or guarantee and I got the main board replaced, though never really trusted it after that.
I will say though if possible stay away from Lenovo and HP for the make. Asus aren't too bad.

Agreed, that laptop has some very nice specs. More than the typical college student or teacher needs.
I do like Lenovo, but not HP. I also like Dell.

What capacity hard drive do you think you need? Unless you're storing a lot of photos and videos, a 500 GB hard drive would probably do fine. You may want to consider an i5 processor with 8 GB RAM and spend the sayings on as SSD (Solid State Drive). These SSDs are faster than conventional hard drives, but more expensive.

Lenovo is the worlds largest PC maker and make excellent PC's.They wouldn't be No 1 if they didn't make good product, Nev.
I have a HP laptop and would not buy another one.
ASUS is my choice if I had to choose.

I only mentioned Lenovo due to the bad press recently of them pre installing certain types software of which turned out to be adware or spyware, and they got caught out twice I believe.
This is the case that made the headlines :-

I also remember seeing recently that Lenovo have since been caught out with another bad pre bundled bit of software, however I can't find anything about it now.

Exactly as Dougie says. Lenovo is #1, and they are not perfect but you two also forget that the best lines of Lenovo the "Thinkpad" and "IdeaPad" contain none of the above mentioned spyware, and never did. I would rather uninstall a few pieces of spyware than have poor quality hardware which Hp Dell and Toshiba all exemplify.
Asus and Msi are also make excellent quality laptops as well.
