Looks like you're not connected via an Ethernet cable. We first need to get the wired connection working before attempting a wireless connection. I have to assume that the hardware is working. Even though the Device Manager isn't having an issue, the actual hardware may be at fault. In your case, since you're having problems with both the wired and wireless connection I doubt, but won't rule out a hardware issue.

So tell us if that ipconfig shot (nice one by the way) was taken with the wire connected.

Dalo - what do you think here?

I was about to ask you what OS you were using  Vista!!! open ones eye's and all becomes clear :fshsml:

ok Control Panel, Network and Internet, Network and sharing centre, click on Manage network connections.

right click your internet connection and select properties, select the Networking Tab, highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click properties.

You should have two sets of numbers 3 in the top Box 2 in the lower above each Box it should be marked Obtain an IP Upper (DNS Server lower) address automatically

are both the check boxes checked?

The Nvidia network controller can easily get deleted if you try and keep up to date with the latest Nvidia display drivers. (they can easily be removed as they are stored in the same folder and the display install utility will sometimes just delete the lot)
you normally have 2 ethernet controllers on a MOBO you have a NVIDIA one and more than likely a MARVELL YUKON I think they are called, have you tried the second ethernet port on the MOBO?
    what MOBO do you have?

you dont need to open it, if you can only see 1 ethernet on the lappy it only has 1 :D
ok, can you go to add/remove programs and tell me what is listed under Nvidia

from this point on I would advise to remove ANY and ALL NVIDIA drivers from your computer, do you have a CD that came with the lappy called software and drivers CD/DVD or something similar as when you remove the nvidia drivers the ethernet will not function at all until a driver is installed and as you cannot access the driver you need it on the lappy ready to run or on a CD/DVD
