I NEED IT URGENTLY TO CHECK IF A CERTAIN MICROCHIP/FIRMWARE DEVELOPMENT TOOL
WORKS UNDER WIN7 AND JUST TO HAVE WIN7 UNTIL SPRING2010 WHEN RC EXPIRES,
    ETC.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE ELSE I CAN DOWNLOAD, NOW THAT MS SITE STOPPED
    OFFERING IT?
WHY WAS SO FOOLISH TO MISS IT.... PLEASE?

    Turn you Caps Lock OFF!
Why in the world would you want Win 7 RC when Win 7 RTM is available? (MSDN,
    other MS web sites?)

Might want to use it more that 90 days?

    It's a TRIAL of Win7 ENTERPRISE edition.
If I wanted it, I'd rather d/l from official Microsoft MSDN source, the
    problem it's not Win7 client/desktop.
It's an enterpirse edition that expires in 90 days.

RC will expire in early SUmmer2010, and it's something worthy to install,
but a 90-day trial - not worth the huge hassle to install/remove a gigantic
mountain of OS and all applications I need to add.
I need RC, not enterprise edition.

The link you gave me is even RTM, not RC - the only little problem it runs
    for 90 days!
Otherwise it would be betetr than RC

Win 7 RTM would solve the urgent requirement, and the other "like to have"
can be handled by (horrors) purchase of win 7 retail (preorder now, or wait
    until Oct 22)
Besides, using an RC version may not really validate "a certain
microchip/firmware development tool." (Although if it works under Vista, it
will likely work under Win 7)

I just tried to see if some older Midi related "stuff" would work under win
    7. It does, even though the Mfr discontinued it, stating that it was not
supported (hardware or software) under Vista and later. Since it (midi
"stuff") was released, Microsoft has made some serious changes to the
windows midi system support. I cannot say that it works as well as previous
versions did under win 3.11, etc. I was releived to find that (Finally)
system PnP suport works properly for at least one formerly popular USB to
    Midi active converter cable.

You can pre-order the Update version of Windows 7 but not the Retail version which
can be purchased on or about Oct 22 of this year

    RTM is available?
I'd be very surprised. When you mention MSDN, you need to be a subscriber,
    right?
The cheapest subscritpion is $700 or so, it's almost 4x mor emoney than just
waiting until October22 and BUYING it.
    Too good to be true.

MSDN is for registered subscribers who already paid.... you confused me with
those, I am a regular home user, but I need to check Win7 as our Microchip
debugger tool is having issues with Vista, and I closed chapter on WinXP.
