Need Help...Vista post login Issues

    Hey y'all,

    My computer had stunning load up time...but now once I log in, it has a
    blank screen while after 10 minutes an empty task bar loads up without
    the windows start up button.

    I ran the task manager and explorer.exe is still running.

    I restarted it in safemode and disabled all the start up programs
    except explorer and I also disabled all the services except for the
    Microsoft ones.


    I Need Help! Grad student with the inability to save work on an
    external...or make a restore point..*Sighh.

    Specs of the comp...

    DELL studio 1550

    T6400 2.0 ghz 500gb hdd 4gb ram windows vista home prem 64bit
