    Bob F,

Ah, I will use my son's computer, which is running XP. I just have to make
sure the new drive is done as a Basic drive.

Right...good luck. Take your time, relax and be patient.

No. As Jane said, dynamic disks aren't supported in Home Basic or Home
Premium. It doesn't matter whether the drives are internal or
external; dynamic disks are not supported.

If you have dynamic disks you want to use with Home Premium, you'll
need to copy them to basic disks. You can do that on a computer
running XP Professional Vista Enterprise, or Vista Ultimate. You could
either mount the dynamic drive temporarily within the machine to do
the copy or use it externally mounted in an external USB enclosure.

It's Home Editions it will NOT work with.

    Bob F,

So, Ultimate and Business would be ok? I know, I'm a little slow tonight.

  13. SOLUTION!!!

I had this problem and could not find anything online to help me so I
    had to use my brain...

All you have to do it start the computer and hit F2 to go into the
    setup (bios).

Once there, find your Disk Drives menu.

Look for SATA 1 and SATA 2.

SATA 1 will already be turned "ON".

You just need to go to SATA 2 (or 3 etc...) and turn off to "ON" or
    disable to ENABLE.

After that, hit save and exit and it will become available.

    Thank you, thank you...

    You're too kind!
