    Hi,

Like many people I've joined this site looking fo an answer to my
problem - So I'll be as clear and concise as possible -

I'm using an Acer Aspire 6920 running fully updated Vista Home Premium
32bit, trying to connect to internet via built in Intel Wifi Link
    4965AGN with latest drivers installed.

Previously I could connect with no problems to 2 separate free wifi
providers (both publicly open, no security, for students at the
    university opposite my flat.

However after several days I found that one connection had stopped
working but the other was still fine, now a couple more days later I
can't connect to either; though more accurately I can connect it just
won't browse once I am connected.

I'm getting a strong signal for both connections and can connect easily
enough, but no home page comes up when I open the actual browser.

When I look at the connection in Vista's Network and Sharing window,
there is a green line between my PC and the wifi provider, but a big red
cross between the provider and the internet.

I've deleted all the saved connections and retried them. I've run it
with and without the firewall running (though there was no problem with
the firewall when it did connect). I've tried to to flush and restart
DNS. I'm running my Acer on mains power so there are no power save
issues blocking connection either. I can't think what else to try.

I seen many threads about Vista and internet connectivity problems, and
most of the things I tried above came from other people's problem
thread, but I haven't found anything to resolve this problem. Hope
    somebody here can help, Thanks.

UPDATE - it's something to do with DNS for sure, I tried putting in
googles IP (216.239.51.99) and it loaded but I still couldn't browse
    from there.

I already flushed DNS via a admin command window - what else can I do??

Have you tried ticking "Automatically detect settings" under "LAN settings"

Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question.
