I cannot perform a Full Scan using McAfee in Vista without receiving the
following error message during the scan:
scanning has encountered a problem from which it cannot recover. Here
are the problem details: error getting scan progress.
The tech department of McAfee suggested I uninstall McAfee, Download
    and run MCPR.exe
    and then reinstall McAfee.
I have done this and am still having problems with the Full Scan. Has
anyone else had this problem and been able to resolve it?
    Thank you!!!

Here's an easy solution: uninstall McaCrappy. Install Avast Free
    edition. All fixed.

Exactly! People wonder why their systems are buggy and crash? Well, it's
because McAffee is WORTHLESS GARBAGE! Delete it now, install something
    else, like Avast suggested previously

LOL That's funny, but soooo true. They have been "crappy" for a long
time. I USED to recommend Norton's instead, but even that one turns
one's system into a complete SLUG! Avast ROCKS in comparison! Get the
McAfee uninstall tool, which is laughable that you should even NEED one,
uninstall, and install Avast Free Home Addition. Problem solved. ..Oh,
and absolutely DEMAND your money back from MacAfee!

    G'day

    Hey mate,

Ignoring the responses below (not quite sure when Microsoft users earned the
right to be so arrogant), but I have a solution for you that will work. I had
the same issue recently running on a Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit version
using SP1 and was receiving the exact same error message while running a
    McAfee scan.
An upgrade to SP2 resovled this issue. I also ran the Malwarebytes
application which picked up a reg-edit and removed it before I applied the
    new service pack but the scan still didn't work till after I applied the SP;
though I doubt it, this may have still been part of the solution (and lets
face it, getting rid of malware will always be a good thing).
    Best of luck to you,
