My system started acting weird. Not sure if it was related to a windows
update recently or installing the latest IE. The system often hangs on
programs and then releases for example, I can type in an email, then it
freezes for about 10 or more seconds and then goes back to normal where
    I can type again.

I ran a slew of internal software checks...fdsk/ckdsk, defrag,
Ram/Processor check, drive check etc. Nothing works. I had a corrupt
user login file before, created a new one and worked fine, now that one
is corrupt, did another one and the same...jerky non repsonsive at times
    to resume normal functioning.

Any clues what causes that? I also ran system restore and when doing
so, it wiped out my desktop files and put them in the same login users
folder on the drive...the folder...was called desktop files lol which
dont show up on the desk top.

What is your hardware setup? Do you have a Core2 Quad or 4GB of RAM, are
    you using a GigaByte motherboard?

You have a form of malware. Run Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware with the latest
definitions. When done do a System Defrag and reboot. Does the issue still persist ?
