posted this on the other thread... got them mixed up...

it says "Windows cannot find a back up on the hard disks or dvds on this computer"
"Attachthe correct hard disk or insert the the last backup DVD and then start the restore process again"

and Avast has stopped running... it's now turned off and when I try to turn it back on... it won't work.

I am guessing that when you started deleting things you knocked out your recovery partition, as I said GUESSING, so what you will need is a Vista Home Premium disc as well as a recovery disk

If I am not mistaken the recovery disc that Toshiba used to supply with their laptops was a complete recovery disc that included both the OS and all drivers. Do you have one of those? They will not look like a Microsoft disk at all.

well guys, I got my recovery disks in and went ahead and ran them. The CD drive is not showing any error signs and everything seems to be better, the fan still runs constantly and is pretty loud, but I guess that's just how this computer is. Perhaps someone can tell me why a computer that JUST had recovery run on the computer still has 75 processes running on it? Seems a bit stupid to me, but anyway. The wireless card is not working.. i've run all of the diagnose the problem stuff that windows had with no luck. My fiance' said the wireless card has never worked... it's switched on and the light is running on and such, it just won't work... any ideas on this?
