So I was playing Rocket League with a few of my friends, when suddenly my internet connection stopped working completely. I though nothing of it at that time, as it was quite late and I was going to go to bed anyways. As you would guess, my internet is still not working. It's working on all of the other devices in this household. It's that annoying little yellow triangle.

    I have tried:
Resetting my computer to factory settings.
    Updating network drivers.
    Disabling iPv6.
    Ipconfig in Commandprompt.
    Troubleshooting the problem.
    Deleting and redialing broadbandconnection.

So I've pretty much sat here for like two hours trying to figure it out, and I'm at a loss.

If it's to any help it says my broadband connection is offline, and immediately opens up VPN config in Settings when I try to configure a connection to it(I don't have a VPN connection). When I troubleshoot my connection it says "DNS-server might be unavailable" or something like that(directly translated from norwegian). It also comes up a error message 651 when I try to establish a establish a fresh connection with the broadbandconnection. So I don't know if the problems lies with the broadbandconnection being offline or, what? I would happily provide information that would help this problem being fixed.

    Hello and welcome,
    Here's something to try:

If you're connecting wirelessly, try using an Ethernet cable.
If you're already using an Ethernet cable, change it out for another cable.

Can you see the network adapter(s) in Device Manager? You should see the wired adapter and if you have wireless, you should also see the wireless adapter. Do they have any red or yellow marks associated with them?

Please provide make and model of your computer.

    Thank you

This happens to my husband's Win 10 laptop all of the time.
He does have a VPN connection that he occasionally uses for connection to his work desktop.
Resetting the adapter will allow you connect you to your regular internet connection.

(I would remove the VPN connection or disable it.)

It's a desktop so it's a wired connection. I've tried switching the cable, and it's not that.

I went into Device Manager, and I've got a Realtek PCIe BGE Family Controller and 8 different WAN Miniport thingies. There is no yellow or red marks associated with any of them.

I've tried resetting the adapter, with no luck.

And I've never had a VPN connection, so I don't know how I would disable that. It says that my Broadband connection is offline with subtext saying "WAN Miniport(PPPOE)". When I right-click it I the VPN windows pops up immediately.

(UPDATE): After some time I tried troubleshooting again after messing around with my DNS-settings, I now got a new error message after troubleshooting. "One ore more network protocols is missing". I tried installing a protocol on my ethernet connection called "Extensible virtual switch for Hyper-V", which a message saying "The specified module could not be found". This pops up in both iPv4 and iPv6. Nothing really happens when I do the same thing on my broadband connection.

I would delete or unistall the Protocol you added and reboot the system to see if Windows will install any missing required protocols

Hi oDandy welcome to the group.

Have you tried rebooting the modem?

Make sure that the ports on the NIC and Modem are lighting up. Have you tried different ports on the modem?

From an Administrator Command Prompt type "ipconfig /all >desktop\ipconfig.txt" (with out the quotes). This will put a file called ipconfig.txt onto your desktop. Open the file and copy and paste the information in to a post.

You can access the Administrator command prompt by pressing the Windows Key + X which will bring up a short cut menu from there select Command Prompt (Admin).

The sudden disconnect leads me to believe it's a hardware failure. The network adapter may have failed.
