I have a one year old Dell XPS 420. My computer works fine but Internet
Explorer has slowed down considerably. I have cleared all my cache and run
all the spyware and malware apps. (4). Is Internet Explorer 8 ready for
download and will it make a difference? Have the *kinks* been worked out? Do
    you suggest it?

Try disabling "SSVHelperClass" Add-on by going to Tools->Manage
    Add-ons.
