In order for you to added a virtual directory, you have to have a Web site.
Where is the Default site that should be there on an out of the box install
    of IIS.

I suspect the IIS 7 on Vista home premium is not a full version IIS7, which
only comes on Vista Ultimate or Business editions.

You should upgrade to Ultimate or Business edition over the top of home
premium, as you don't want to miss any options for IIS7 that may be needed
    in your learning.

Where is SQL server 2005? You're going to need it at some point in your
ASP.NET training. You can download the SQL Server 2005 or 2008 Express
    edition that's free to download.

click on the computer name - web sites - right click here, i still don't
get the Add Virtual Directory option. To work on VS 2005, initially i
need to create the virtual directory in IIS and work then. but i dont

ISS is included in all Vista flavors but you cannot configure it in Vista Home. You
can in all other flavors of Vista.
