You don't know much, do you?
Try installing Vista before shelling out bad advice.

After sp2 failed to install, I removed IE8 to see if that was the culprit.

Before it would offer sp2 again, WU would only offer IE8 as an available
    update.

Once IE8 was installed, sp2 was offered.

Based on my experience, it is a prerequisite.

Note that IE 8 is not a prerequisite.

    I didn't offer any advice.

Based on what MS says, your Vista install is flawed. Ain't Windows fun?

    So I see.
They also say IE8 isn't part of sp2.
    Maybe they don't know ... :)

    Well, it runs good.
Grub is what screwed me up.

Tell me...why do you give a crap about an OS you don't use?

If you had it...and said it sucked...that'd be one thing.
But you don't even have it.

Is it because the ubuntu forum is more boring than it's OS?
If it wasn't for Dan C. , nothing interesting would happen in there.

    Sure.

I'm on a noble mission to make the Internet safer, of course.

Yes, I do, gathering dust on the shelf.

No need to go there as they all know about Ubuntu.

    > If it wasn't for Dan C. , nothing interesting would happen in there.

The few times I've had a problem with Ubuntu, I just use Ubuntu on line
    help, not alt.os.linux.ubuntu.
