IE-8 a prerequisite to SP-2?

Discussion in 'Windows Vista' started by CWLee, May 31, 2009.

    (Running Vista Ultimate 64-bit.)

My system is up to date, except that I have not downloaded
and installed IE-8. MS has not offered me SP-2 via the
automatic update process. Is there a connection between
those facts? Must I download and install IE-8 in order to
be offered SP-2 via the automatic update process?

If not, I wonder has SP-2 been offered to all Vista users
    yet?

    Insight appreciated.

  2. SP2 has not yet hit AU/WU yet, though it is available to be manually
downloaded. A quick Google search will reveal the date it will hit AU/WU if
    you are interested.

Check again... I got mine via AU last Tuesday!

Then I went to the MS download page and downloaded it for a friend who
    is still on dialup.

Yes i would suggest having all
important updates installed pre/sp2 although i succesfully installed sp2
without any problems a couple of days ago and i did and do not have IE8
installed, it is still hidden in my windows updates. hope this answers
your initial question. all the best and wish you smooth sailing with
    your download and install:D

Post that three or four more times, just in case.

Doubtful when you consider that IE8 is available for XP.
