    I'll take the vodka lol.

At the troubleshooting screen, you should be able to leave the password box blank, and just click on the arrow to the right of the password box.

Statistics such as that are easily skewed due to bots, vested interest, etc. What it comes down to is all those that took the MS free offer to upgrade from W7 to W10. In addition, almost all new computers sold beginning about 5 years ago came with W8, and in last 3 years came with W10. (For all intents and purposes, W8 is no different than W10).

Anyway, it's all irrelevant, given that my assumption was correct and the OP is indeed running W10.

God knows what I've done now or how I got here, but when I removed my blind fold, the monitor is saying its resetting the pc. It's at 2%, any idea what I can expect or how long this is likely to take?

It looks like you got ahead of yourself and are now re-installing Window's 10. Under normal circumstances, you should have had an option to keep your personal files or delete your personal files.

The reset time varies, but on average it takes about 2 to 4 hours.

I do remember seeing keep your personal files so hopefully I have. It's gone past 100% now. Then it stated installing Windows and that the pc will restart several times. Have I done something terrible?

Your personal files will still be there, but any program that was installed by you, or someone else, may have to be re-installed.

    Let's see what happens..

It actually got through to the lake and mountains scene on monitor. Then it said 'hi' got some updates for you. Now it says welcome to the best Windows ever with browser set up. Flip, wish I could speak via phone. I'll have to read it all.

My window, bottom left, seems to be working now. The time is displaying correctly. The desk top icons have disappeared. I can't find how to access the internet. Any idea?

Scrap that last question, Seth, I found it!! Yayyyyyyyyy!!!!! I'm going for a vodka and a lye down before the Eurovision song contest. I promised myself I wouldn't watch it this year because we never do well but, well, I do like our entry so I'll be glued again. As Arney would say, 'I'll be back' tomorrow even though it's Sunday. Have a good evening. Thanks again, couldn't have done it without you!

Get up its morning!!! Just to let you know that when I started up my computer this morning it worked perfectly. I was able to access the internet and my files are still here as well. Don't know how to thank you. You, Seth, has been marvellous. So thank you once again.

I guess now, unless I have further problems, there's no need for me to be here, I feel sad now, daft I know, I was going to add you to my Christmas card list as well All the best.

    Your thanks is enough.

Other members introduced to me a free and valuable program that I suggest you install:

    https://unchecky.com/

With that said, whenever you're on the internet and you see a message that your computer needs (whatever), then it's a scam of some sort.

Let us know if you have any other questions, as we're happy to help.

Thank you Seth, as the song goes....'you're simply the best!!'. I will download tomorrow. It's good to know I have you there, to talk to, and answer any questions, should I have any. Now, put that vodka bottle down! Oh, sorry, I was talking out loud to myself then.

Morning all. It's 6.25 am. Seth, I've down loaded as promised, not sure what to do with it. I see a list with all my files, then, if I press on the down loaded program it states ' 1 selected', and then an arrow points to the left, so I removed the selection because I wasn't sure what that would do. I'm useless. I think I should just stick with making my extra, extra strong garlic cheese toasted baguettes... nobody visits me, got no friends..The neighbours have moved out, no Idea why...

Once you've downloaded the program. Find it and double click on unchecky_setup.exe to install it onto your computer.
