Hp Compaq Sr2009 And Windows Xp Home Problems

Hi everyone my name is John and although i really like computers i am not very clued up on how to solve problems
I upgraded my hardrive and memory about 3 months ago but now i am getting several problems which i have tried to solve but clearly getting no where i need help and would really appreciate any advice anyone can give me ,

I am having problems with viewing images in some different websites as it comes up a red x in a small box . and problems downloading and watching vides as it comes up not able to open files search for a programe to open these but with no joy after downloading several proggrames . today i tried to use a brand new mp3 player but the usb connection has knackerd this and it wont even switch on , I really hope this is nothing big as i am not working at this moment in time .

Like i said i would be very gratefull and would appreciate any help and advice anyone could give thanks in advance . John O'Neill in sunny Scotland ha ha
