Compared to Windows, Linux is bulletproof. Conficker is still infecting

It slows you down in 2 cases:
    1) You don't set its setting sproperly
    2) You don't disable real-time proection after you're done working in
    dangerous environment.

If you know what to disable after you're done scanning/working in red-alert
zone, don't criticize the best AV in the world.
This thing brough my system from the grave after a severe attack at work
thru stupid boss's DSL box... the only thing that fixed my system with 80GB
    of semi-government & military designs.

    that never happens in Ubuntu.

if you insist on Windows and "beliek everyone else", you will keep being
infected like everyone else using Windows.

Get Ubuntu, then download "Microsoft STFU" plugin for Mozilla.

    Hi:

Grisoft AVG and Avast! have paid versions, but offer their 'lite' versions
for no-charge download. They use the same virus signatures usually. I've
read reports that they are as effective as Norton. I'm not knocking Norton,
if it works for you - great, but these others also work well.

Most dominating technical products started as a hobby, MORON.

First PC - out of Steve Wozniak's garage (Steve Jobs was the business arm of
that project), Z80 microprocessor - best classic 8-bit processor ever, that
is still in hom eappliances... after 30 years.
First Windows, known as "AppleMac OS". where Bill Gates got the idea from.

Toothbrush, X-Ray machines & radiation discovery, new vehicle features came
out of aftermarket mods, many ideas are borrowed or stolen from hobbies, I
am too tired to make a long list...
Ubuntu is a real contender and it's made in Africa, so it's got to be
    quality.

I am sorry Norton either didn't work for you or didn't bother to configure
    its numerous settings properly.

Rememeber you people attacking me for not knowing "how to use" Vista?

Fact is Norton was good to me, it did take a few googles to find solutions
to its quirky issues - NETWORKING (get disabled when certain Symantec
services is disabled), other than that, I'd be tearing my hair out in
January 2009 when it saved me from disaster in Safe Mode.
I couldn't destroy slowly spreading infection, until I ran NortonAV in
SafeMode and Lord, it found one of THEE most dangerous viruses in the world
    on my machine.

Free AV tends to be less powerful because people writing it are motivated
only by good will and maybe semi-government organization, when money gets
    involved, product improves.
If money were involved in Linux it wouldn't be a "hobby OS".

Your Avast, etc are hobby AV's.

Associate: People purchased a product/service because they wished to
associate with the image delivered by the spokesperson (and the majority of
    other users).

Disassociate: People refused to purchase a particular product/service
because they didn't want to be associated with the image delivered by the
spokesperson (and the majority of other users).

Negative campaign: Almost always initiated by a person/company feeling
insecure about their position in the market, and almost always from a 2nd-,
or even lower, tier competitor targeting to the leader, and NOT vice versa.
Most well-trained decision makers can tell this very well.

Foolish: Anyone insults a potential/existing customer just to show how good
this person is (or how stupid the customer is by purchasing a
different/wrong product) at the cost of the customer to disassociate with
the image represented by the person, and thus, may not continue to use the
    product or even consider it.

Many people purchased a product not for technical features but for the above
    reason. So,

You ask, why people don't want to use Linux? I ask, why you (as a
messenger, a.k.a. unofficial spokesperson) keep doing this even you have
    been advised many times?

I know you will not change, and I just wish other Linux advocates don't
repeat the same mistake, again and again and again.

I don't post for the regulars here who hate Linux. I post for the
lurkers. You'd be surprised at how many emails I get from people who are
interested in Ubuntu but would never post here due to the likes of Frank
    and the Nymshifter.

I don't have statistics for you, but you (and your friends) might be even
more surprised by how many potential users lost.

A side note though, not just applied to Linux but also to those "supporters"
    of their beloved product/company.

    Same effects.

But the question is, you are the one(s) at disadvantageous and have lesser
to loss. Take it or leave it but it's well intended.

Getting the word out is a good thing. The fact that the MS fanboys can

Just remember this, you get what you deserve.

People including regulatory agencies can give just so many opportunities to
ensure a fair playground, but no one other than the product provider itself
can assure if there will be any difference.

At some point, those opportunities will be given to more competent ones, and
there will be no mercy for incompetent ones.

No one can force anyone to understand their customers, and fortunately, only
those who are willing to so will succeed.

So, I have done my part of being a good citizen [IMG] and you have your right
to determine how to help Linux.

    Good luck.

PS: I am speaking to you as you are a member of the Linux community.

BTW, I didn't see you ask that.

The same two songs as an example:
    Both ripped in mp3 format.

    Vista...192kbps/5.3MB , 192kbps/5.5MB

    Linux...159kbps/4.4MB , 163kbps/4.7MB

    Vista was still faster...way faster

Google isn't a part of Vista, moron. It runs on Linux servers. You lie.
You've *never* posted your full name and address and you never will
because you know there are hundreds of people in this and other groups
who would love to kick your fat ass.

    Snip lying drivel.
