    Hello Everyone!

I am experiencing the Most Annoying thing on my Toshiba Satellite that is operating with Vista Home Premium Edition. Can anyone help me???? Here is the problem.

I wanted to delete Java because I kept getting all of these pop-ups prompting me to update the program. These pop-ups were happening ALL THE TIME and I finally decided to get rid of the whole program. While I was successful in deleting some of it, I can not find my way back into the area I initially deleted some of it and am getting TWICE as many pop-ups now because the program wants to reinstate itself and update.

    Do I really need Java?

If I do, how can I get all of these pop-ups to stop or at least slow way down?

Many thanks. I feel like an "egg-head" when it comes to things like this but know that many of You will have some great ideas for me.

    Warmest Wishes.....Kelly

The best thing to do is install the latest version of Java. Java is a script used by web developers, without it you will be limited as to what you can do or see on affected websites. In and of itself it is perfectly harmless and very useful.

More likely than not you are getting these pop ups when you are at a site that relies on java.

click the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Programs and Features.

    Uninstalling & Reinstalling Java

in the list find anything to do with Java and click on it then select uninstall, I live quite happily without Java and run Firefox browser,

but depending on what browser you use you will need to disable Java, normally in tools options menu somewhere.

You really don't need Java especially when JavaScript is included in your web browser. JavaScript allows your web browser to deliver more

information to you without slowing you down. Many websites use it on a daily basis. (Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Yahoo and Google Calendars and

Google Maps) You really should leave JavaScript turned on as the websites will function better for you with it enabled.

Java and JavaScript have nothing whatsoever in common, except a name. They both have the word Java in their names because of a

marketing decision made years ago by Sun Microsystems ( inventors of Java) and Netscape ( inventors of JavaScript). JavaScript and Java are

completely different. JavaScript used to be called LiveScript. You don't need a Java runtime environment to use JavaScript in a web page. If you

should need Java for a particular site, the site itself will tell you.
