    About Me

Born in Zrenyanin, Yugoslavia, married a girl from Walhalla, North Dakota, in Salem Oregon! Travels extend from Moscow to Singapore. I am a Vietnam Veteran and a proud citizen of the United States. Most of my life I worked in consumer electronic repair.
My first experiences with computers was the Commodore 64 and PET. They belonged to a friend.
My first real experience was with the Radio Shack TRS80 Model 2 http://oldcomputers.net/trs80ii.html
Yes, I bought the whole thing just like in the picture! Including Basic, Profile, VisiCalc and Scripsit! It cost me close to $9000.00 and almost a divorce. Well, one lives and learns.
I am retired now, and spend a lot of time on my cobbled together computer. I don’t bother putting the cover on it. My favorite thing is recovering files from corrupted drives, and transferring my DVD collection to hard drive. I want to remove the shelves holding the DVDs and install a 60” monitor with a file server. This should keeps me learning new computer skills and out of trouble.

Now that brings back memories, 8Bit, 16Kb of Ram, BASIC as in language not design, Beginners All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code.

It was the machine we had at school to learn with :) Guess you must be older than me as you were working and bought your own.

But Hi and Welcome to CHF

Hi tiberiusc and welcome to CHF

I too remember the Commodore 64 but my first computer was a ZX81.
I thought I was really well off when I was given a bank of BBC-B computers to use at work.which were later updated to the BBC Master :)
I had kids programming in BASIC in the 80's / early 90's and we still use a form of BASIC for programming PICs ( programmable ICs ) in Electronics.
The kids pick it up in no time :)
