I am running windows vista and can not use both the internal laptop card and the PCI video card in my D-Dock at the same time. This is fine with me, the dock card is far better.

The problem I have is that I can not get the dock to use the PCI card as the primary. I can go into the BIOS and tell it to use the dock card as the primary card and then save and exit. It starts to boot up and the dock card specs come up on my external monitor and then nothing. The specs just stay on the screen and it will not load the OS. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? I'd really love to not have to buy a new computer to get better graphics.

**I have a Dell Latitude D830 with the Mobile Intel 965 video drivers. I also have a Dell D-Dock with an Nvidia Geforce 6200 graphics card in the PCI slot.**

Assuming you haven't found your answer elsewhere, I will try to muddle my way through this.
For reference purposes, I've included a link detailing your system spec's.

    D830 Spec's.

As for your "Dell D-Dock". Which one do you have ? (See link below)

Whenever a laptop is placed in any kind of 'dock' the Laptops periferals if you like such as the mouse, keyboard and monitors plugged into the dock would be used in place of anything else first

When you say that you changed the BIOS settings did you then save and exit the BIOS (this is needed so that the changes are saved and used upon exit of the BIOS)
