Hi, I'm using Vista 64 and also use Front Page 2003.
I have the old problem of the hyperlinks not working in preview mode.
I've done the reg fix found here
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;823720
which always worked ok in XP but doesn't seem to cure the problem in Vista
    64.
I'm wondering if it's caused by there being two versions of IE, 32 and 64
    bit.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance
    Eddy

dont use preview mode... use the browser to preview your work...
just hit refresh whenever you want to see the changes..

I have a different problem with FP 2003 which was lost during the last
computer build. Started with 4.1 then in time upgraded to 4.11, 95, 98, 2000,
2003. Started with FP included with 4.1 and first purchased upgrade was FP
95, then FP 98, etc up to FP 2003. 2008 my computer was rebuilt but even
though I paid for license he would not reload my 2003 without the disk. I
still have the reg number proving ownership of license to use FP.

How do I get my FP 2003 back without buying it again?

If you have no way of borrowing a disc, you need to go here for help:

So I take it you two dont know.
Manny Weisbord It'd been better if you'd started your own post.

You don't know either. This is not a Frontpage discussion group. It
    is a VISTA group.

    Try asking in microsoft.public.frontpage.client.

Oh... and FP has been discontinued for what... over two years now?

BTW... your advice would have been properly aimed at "donkelly".

Do you also need some steering to a group where you can learn how to
determine who you are replying to?

That's funny because I thought it was a problem with Vista as it works ok
    with XP.

Your probably right though I should seek help elsewhere such as a forum for
FrontPage and just hope you're not there and moaning that its not a front
page problem but a vista problem.

Any way you seem pig ignorant and I'm sorry I ever expected help from
    morons.

Your level of response is appalling and is what I would expect of 10 year
    old.

In case I've posted this wrongly and you feel this is aimed at the wrong
person please feel free for any one that feels this is applies to them to do
    so.

I don't often post on news groups so it would've been nice to have had no
response rather then the totally unhelpful comments given.

Preview in browser and you should have no problem and, if you are creating a
website for general consumption, you really need to preview in multiple
    browsers..

    Eddy:

I'm not aware of this as a known issue but MS has abandoned fixes for
FP post Vista so you are really on your own. You can check the fp
client group on this server but it's a fairly dead area now as most of
the FP fanatics have moved on.

I use the FP Preview mode to get a quick peek at formatting sans table
borders and such, but I always resort to a browser to do any true
previewing or link testing (due to the FP Preview inaccuracies). You
may have to accept that FP is no longer supported and the
buglist/compatibility problem list is likely to grow.

Thanks, that's what I've been doing. It's just annoying that Vista
seems to have the same registry entry as XP but changing it doesn't seem to
work as it does in XP.

Seems strange that it works ok for you, oh well never mind.

So as you say I'll just have to carry on previewing in a browser. I like FP
because it's quick and easy to use for the odd website. Tried Dream Weaver
which I suppose is great for professionals but not for knocking up a quick
    private site.

    Thanks for your help.

Check out microsoft.public.frontpage.client on this server and see if
you can find anyone left who is helpful. Most of the regulars are
    gone.

I use FP too but with a very limited set of features. It does lots of
things wrong - but if you know it well enough to learn what it does
poorly, and use it just to save a little time generate the generic
parts of your code, it's fast and easy. DW is a bit of a bear, and it
doesn't do all that much more for a developer.

I find it almost exactly like FrontPage. The only difference is that
all the ease of use is missing.

You mean once I've made a web site I can make something different. Will it
    do tea and toast?

I'm not out to conquer the world, just keep my plain and simple sites
updated and if I learn a bit more along the way then that a plus.

Just tried it and it will do as a replacement for FP but still no blooming
on the fly preview. Gonna miss that, previewing in a browser is ok but you
have to save the pages each time they've been changed, not something I like
to do until I'm sure of the layout.

No... I mean that after the similarity that they both make websites,
    the similarity ends.

Expression Web is a professional web-authoring tool. People who have
become accustomed to letting FP do all the dirty work for them, will
NOT be happy with Expression Web.

There is a steep learning curve.
