It would seem for now were stuck on possible causes, :( what I would suggest is you check back or set an email notification, in case someone comes up with an answer, ;)

Just on a final note, in your first post the fault messages you mention could be due to voltages dipping below the critical level for the processor.
You explained that because the power supply that came with the case was too low in rating you are using an original 750 watt unit from another computer, this could be a sign of possible failure of the power supply, after all it has been used elsewhere and could be coming to its end of life. Just a thought and if possible can you borrow a replacement. Don't want to see you buy a new one if it isn't the fault.

Sorry for the delay, the reason I asked about the install process is that Vista is typically a 32bit OS where as W7 is more 64bit
You cannot upgrade from a 32bit OS to a 64 (so you must be on a 32bit version of W7)

Have you installed the chipset drivers, audio and ethernet etc from the manufacturers website for W7 or are you using some older Vista ones you already had? W7 is Very different in the architecture of the OS and while the drivers may install you will get errors and crashes.

Double check ALL your drivers are up to date and are W7 variants

    Great minds think alike
As we all know I do 'skim' some of the posts as opposed to reading every reply :lglaf:

It can only be a driver issue, or hardware issue - given that the games work for a time and then shut off it could only be a heat issue with the hardware, and there should be sufficient cooling.
I would think that either the drivers especially the chipset need a look at, most people forget the chipset drivers after a new install, but they provide the bridge between the hardware and the software

While Hoilismad is away seeking help else where, hopefully he'll/she'll look back in,

I'll use the time to discuss the ins and out's of my thoughts on the issue.

given the temps are ok as stated in post #4/5

and lowering the in game video settings didn't have or make any difference,

Nor did a fresh install of the OS,

I suspected a driver issue, however, given that he/she used the M$ Generic Drivers which I find are pretty good with W7, that theory went down.

which makes me now think it might possibly be a page file issue? as in for some reason the OS isn't using all the available RAM, or not resetting the RAM addresses?
well that's the theory but as my knowledge of this subject is infantile I wasn't going to suggest or advise on fault finding, but also having had more time to think about it, it might actually be a bad driver, or a Bios setting?
